Andreas Mühe subverts his images. He topples significations and crushes expectations. Preconceived social orders are reshuffled; he trivializes hierarchies and inverts or undermines authorities. His artistic activity occurs almost secretively — he undermines meanings, fluctuates between them and shifts perspectives. Andreas Mühe transforms openly expressed or subdued propaganda; he arranges groups into uncommon formations. Diversion is his business and he is skilled in subordination. Mastering the language of power and the words of the powerful, he expresses precisely these notions by utilizing their perfected ideology. He effortlessly interchanges between Teichoscopy — a term used in theater by which actors describe things they supposedly see and which enables them to deal with simultaneously occurring events — and the so-called “report by messenger“ device, which transports past events into the present. It is his continuous goal to destroy the power of images in the eye of the beholder.
